I Saw Her That Night, the award-winning novel by Drago Jančar, has been sold to the Swedish literary publisher it-lit. This will be the first translation of any of Drago Jančar's books into Swedish and already the 28th translation of I Saw Her That Night.
The Swedish edition of the novel will come out in 2025 and will be translated from Slovenian by Ann-Sofie Öman.
Jančar’s ninth novel I Saw Her That Night is one of the most successful, awarded, and translated Slovenian contemporary works. Among the many accolades, it received the Kresnik Award for best Slovenian novel in 2011, the Kresnik Award for best Slovenian novel of the decade in 2020, and Prix du meilleur livre étranger (Best Foreign Book Prize) in 2014.
